RED SHOE LUNCH: For 15 years we've hosted the Red Shoe Lunch. Our annual lunch raises awareness about heart disease. The lunch takes place in Atlanta, Georgia on the last Saturday of February each year. Our next luncheon will take place on Saturday, February 22, 2025 in Atlanta, Georgia. VBMF 1 FOR EVERY 1 BLOOD PRESSURE MONITOR GIVEAWAY: On Saturday, January 18, 2025 we will give away 100 blood pressure monitors to residents in the Penn North neighborhood of Baltimore City. This is a partnership with Giant Food Inc. The blood pressure monitors were donated by Giant Food and their pharmacists will be onsite to provide vaccines and training on how to properly take your blood pressure at home.
RED SHOE 3k HEART WALK: New in 2023, we launched our annual Red Shoe 3K Heart Walk. The fundraising event will be held annually in Maryland. Our next event will take place on Saturday, September 7, 2024 in Cooksville, MD.

VBMF INAUGURAL BALL: Celebrating the life of Veronica Blount and our 501c3 nonprofit status, we will host our Inaugural Ball on Saturday, September 7, 2024 in Laurel, Maryland.

RED SHOE BRUNCH: Yes! In 2025 we will launch Red Shoe Brunch pop-ups. These will be smaller events that will take place in different cities across the country! We will release the travel dates and locations six months in advance to give our supporters time to plan. We plan to offer a blood pressure monitor giveaway in each location we visit, spreading our outreach. Attendees can combine the brunch event with a volunteer opportunity in each city. Come travel the country with us!

DOUBLE GOOD POPCORN FUNDRAISER: Later this year (2024), we will launch our first Double Good Popcorn Fundraiser. We really hope you will join us and help us raise funds to help fight heart disease.

Blood Pressure Monitor Giveaway!

First 100 residents of zip code 21217 will receive a free blood pressure monitor provided by Giant Food, Inc. Only one monitor per household. You must have a valid state-issued ID with current mailing address in order to qualify for the free monitor.

Giant Food Pharmacists will be onsite to provide training on how to properly take your blood pressure at home.
​
Pharmacists from Giant Food will be onsite to provide Flu, COVID-19, RSV, Shingrix (shingles), Pneumonia, and Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis) vaccines. Vaccines will be billed to recipients’ insurance, and participants should bring their insurance information. Accepted insurance includes Medicare-B, Medicaid, Medicare-D, private, and supplemental insurance. Vaccinations are available to all, regardless of residency.

Chef Myron Fulton of Catering Your Way will provide a live cooking demonstration, showcasing how to prepare healthier versions of popular comfort foods. This engaging demonstration will inspire residents to make heart-healthy dietary choices without sacrificing flavor.
